A Spooktacular Treat is Coming to the Citadel this Halloween

The Big Imaginations Festival is coming to St Helens from 22nd – 29th

October and with it comes these Fairytales Gone Bad!!

We all have our favourite tales of princes, princesses, wolves and magical creatures…but do you know the true stories behind the happily ever afters? Perhaps they’re not quite as charming as you remember!

Join performance poet Joseph Coelho, as he unravels familiar fairytales to create fresh contemporary classics in an enchanting performance for young and old alike.

In Grannylocks and the Monstrous Duckling a father returns home with a magical cloak. A cloak that hides a story…

Did you know that the ugly duckling was never ugly? He was truly monstrous!
Or that Goldilocks was never a tale about a little girl. It was always a tale about a granny – a mean, thieving granny who has plans for something quite nasty.  Perfect for ages 3+

Or come along to Zombie-Rella / Blood Red and discover the true tale of Cinderella, where she dies and becomes a zombie and falls in love with a vampire prince. And of course, there’s the true tale of Little Red Riding Hood, the wolf-hunter who never leaves her home without her shield, axe and blood-red stained cloak. Perfect for ages 6+

Fancy dress encouraged!! Come along in your scariest Halloween outfit!

After both shows there will be a chance to meet Joseph and purchase signed copies of his books, as well as talk about his work.

The Big Imaginations Festival takes place from the 19 October – 5 November at 26 venues across the North West and Yorkshire: from Liverpool’s Royal Philharmonic Hall to libraries, village halls and regional theatres.
