A fun and fantastical festival for families is coming to Church Square, St Helens on Saturday 11th August. Presented by the Citadel in partnership with Heart of Glass and St Helens Council, In the Street¸ is a day of interactive pop up performances, mini festivals, installations and workshops for all the family to enjoy.
All the fun starts at 11.00am with an exciting line-up of performances set to take place until 4.00pm.
MiniFest is a fun musical experience for children that adults will love too! Jam packed with new original songs and some old favourites, played by the brilliant ARTFUL PLAYGROUND BAND, there will be something to get all families up on their feet.
Based on CBeebie’s ‘Mr Bloom’s Nursery’, families can come along to the Allotment to meet The Vegetable Nannies and get stuck in to the daily duties of caring and comforting all manner of baby fruits and vegetables.
Children’s poet Dommy B from BBC’s Rhyme Rocket will be performing his show ‘AAAAAAAAAGH! Dinosaurs!’ and families can get their dancing shoes on and join in with A Chorus Line with Miss High Leg Kicks.
Families can enter The Actual Reality Arcade, A life-sized interactive game zone for all ages inspired by classic video games. Participants bring the retro games including; Tetris, Space Invaders, Kong & Pac-Man to life as they take on 12 challenges using their mind, body and imagination to succeed.
Vintage Jazz band The Black Sheikhs will be on stilted legs to entertain with their Twenties-style Jazz interpretations of contemporary hits and the brand-new St Helens Youth Theatre will be presenting a very special performance celebrating 150 years of St Helens.
The event which is part of St Helens 150th Anniversary Celebrations, is free to attend and will see some of the best family entertainment from all over the country performing in the Town Centre.
